Hi, I’m Angela. I live in Grand Rapids, MI with my boyfriend, Paul, and our dog, Izzy. I’m an NPR junkie. I have too many clothes. I LOVE finding a good deal. I probably spend too much time reading fashion, diy, decorating, etc. blogs, but justify it by calling it “research”.
In the summer of 2010 Paul bought his first house and somehow I ended up moving in. I might have hyperventilate about 9,438 times during that first month, but we both survived. Mostly.
The house was built in the early 1900’s and was later converted to a two unit. We live in the bottom unit. ‘Cause Izzy needs a yard, yo. No, really, she does. I’m not going to take her for a walk straight out of bed in the winter because she needs to um…well, you know.
The house we live in a Dutch Colonial style which is awesome since Paul is 100% Dutch. The house is definitely in need of some love and that’s what we plan on showing it…some good, old fashioned, we’re on a budget, this will be a rental again so this not about me…love.
While working on the house I’ll also be trying to learn how to eat gluten free. While I don’t have a serious allergy to gluten, I certainly have a sensitivity, and my Doc has suggested I eat dairy and gluten free. I grew up in a very Midwest family with a “meat, potatoes, veggie” kind of menu and a mother whose cooking is the butt of a few family jokes. This could be interesting to say the least.
We also foster dogs through two local rescues. Izzy is a rescue and finding sweet pups new forever homes is definitely close to my heart.
I figure a blog is a good a place as any to chronicle this journey.
Oh, and the blog name? Those two words became hugely important to me during a rough period and really, I think it takes a very strong woman to think she wants to start posting parts of her world on a blog.
